West Mercia Police send letters out to thieves
Letters warning serial burglars across Shropshire that they are being watched have been sent to 50 known criminals by police.
Senior officers have taken the unusual step of sending written warnings to some of the county’s most prolific burglars to remind them they are being closely monitored.
Some of the personalised letters have even been hand-delivered, West Mercia Police said.
Detective Chief Inspector Alan Edwards said: “Around 50 letters have been sent to individuals who have previously committed burglaries in the county. We are giving due warning that they’ve been identified as people most likely to cause harm to the community.”
Each letter warns ‘if you are suspected of crime, officers will focus their activities on you as a priority’.
