Tears of joy as the Redcaps come home to Shropshire
Tearful families proudly welcomed more than 100 Military Policemen home to Shropshire following a six month tour of Afghanistan.
The 115 members of the 174 Provost Company, 3rd Regiment Royal Military Police were greeted by waving flags and cheers from their loved ones as they returned home to Parsons Barracks, in Donnington, Telford, last night.
The troops arrived just before 7pm and conducted a formal march before an emotional reunion with waitng families.
Commanding officer Greg Sangster, from Malpas, said: “It’s impossible to put into words how complex the challenge is that these guys face.
“These lads now deserve their four weeks off, they can now get a well-earned rest.”
Among those returning was Lieutenant Jonny Atterton, 25. from Hereford. who was greeted by girlfriend Diane Kennett, 25, also from Hereford.
“It feels amazing to be back,” said Jonny.
