Shropshire dairy set to expand says MP Owen Paterson

North Shropshire MP Owen Paterson today claimed one of the county’s biggest employers has plans to expand.

Mr Paterson, Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, held a meeting with chiefs at Muller Wiseman yesterday about the firm’s future.

But the yoghurt company is remaining tight-lipped about any expansion.

Mr Paterson met Ronald Kers, CEO of Muller, and Pete Nicholson, Milk Procurement Director at Robert Wiseman Dairies, at a meeting in Market Drayton.

He said: “It was really interesting. We had a lengthily discussion on the future of the dairy industry.”

Mr Paterson added: “I was told there is one last product Muller are bringing in from Germany and everything is being made here in Market Drayton.

“It is all pointing towards expansion, they have plans to expand their product line.”
