A MAN WHO died in a horror crash between an ambulance and a car in Shropshire was today named as 25-year-old Keiran Moore-Hughes.

Mr Moore-Hughes, of Heath Farm, Shrewsbury, died in the accident on the A49 at Preston Brockhurst, near Wem, which also left a woman in a critical condition.

Mr Moore-Hughes’s family was too upset to speak about the tragedy today.

The former Grange School pupil worked as a press operator at Shrewsbury’s Salop Design & Engineering in Harlescott.

Managing director Richard Homden said he would be speaking to Mr Moore-Hughes’s family to pass on the firm’s condolences.

Mr Moore-Hughes had worked at Morrisons supermarket in Shrewsbury until last year. It is believed the passenger in his blue Volkswagen Golf GTI, Sarah Cowley, works at the store. She was airlifted to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire with serious head and chest injuries and remains in critical care in a stable condition.

Dozens of tributes have been posted on Mr Moore-Hughes’ Facebook page by his friends.

Jo Mcgarry wrote: “You touched so many hearts and I’m proud to have known you and spent so many years as your friend.”

And Ricki Cooke said: “I’m so heartbroken. You are an amazing lad, still can’t get my head round this.”

Three women in the ambulance, including the driver, were also injured in Thursday’s crash. The driver remains comfortable in hospital.

Police spokesman Richard Ewels today asked witnesses to call the police as a matter of urgency on 0300 333 3000.
