A man has admitted causing the death of a 71-year-old grandfather by dangerous driving near Oswestry.
Trevor Williams, 49, of Longfield, Chirk, was driving a white Mazda pick-up truck which collided with cyclist Brian Parker, also of Chirk, on the B5107 at Trap Bank near the town on September 13 last year.
Mr Parker was taken by ambulance to Wrexham Maelor Hospital where he later died.
Williams yesterday pleaded guilty to a charge of causing death by dangerous driving when he appeared at Crown Court.
Judge Niclas Parry, sitting at Mold Crown Court, ordered a pre-sentence report before sentencing which will take place at the end of the month.
Williams, who has been made the subject of an interim driving ban, was granted bail.
Mr Parker, who was well-known in Chirk, had worked for many years as a contractor for the Cadbury’s factory in the town.
