Hundreds of people flocked to a Shropshire castle for a journey through time, from medieval history right up to the 1950s. The event took place at Whittington Castle, near Oswestry.
The castle held a multi-period weekend which saw battle reconstructions, 17th century musketeers, a Victorian kitchen and a 1950s fairground.
Hundreds of people from the area attended to the free event, which also included a parade on Saturday and yesterday, arena combat, musket firing and a have-a-go at archery sessions.
There were also staged battles by The House of the Blackstar medieval re-enactment group, craft stalls, rustic cookery, a costumed demonstration of fish farming in the middle ages and an appearance by the Freemen of Gwent.
There were also stalls, vintage clothing, knights and freemen, owls, a bone carver, clay models, tarot reading and a stall from the RSPB.
Catherine Jones, 28, from Gobowen, near Oswestry, attended the event on Saturday. She said: “It was a really fun day. There were hundreds of people there enjoying themselves.
“The battle re-enactments were really good as they were really into character and the cooking was fun too.”
Andy Sheriff, of the Marcher Freeman, which staged the archery events, said it was a ‘wonderful occasion’. He said: “I look forward to coming back to Whittington again.”
