Letter: Think before Shropshire is under homes pressure
The Greater London area and Manchester have the most densely populated land in Europe. Second only to the island of Malta.

In Shropshire there are plans for massive housing developments throughout the county. But there are questions to be answered.
Who are these expensive houses for? Where is the work for these people moving into the county? Also where are the services, roads, transport, schools, hospitals for these people?
It’s OK proposing housing but this will place great demands on Shropshire and guess who will pay?
We are not that far away from London and Manchester. There’s only so much suitable available land in our area. So please think before proposing these ideas.

People need homes , people still buy /rent homes most towns and villages can afford sympathetic development.
Shared equally around the UK with all areas being forced in to accepting some HOUSING development it is achievable.

and then we will hhave to make it achievable again, and again. It has to stop somwhere, our quality of life is getting lower year by year by over0crowding !!!

And your answer to the housing shortage?
Colin.Dodd.
How about getting the immigration issue under control, and, NO, this is not intended as a racist remark, but the UK is an island, and there is only so much room available.
Might solve a few financial problems too.

i think the answer is to find out why are we so short of housing, and then back pedle to rectify the problem before it starts. We have an immagration problem, and thats the people we know officially about. We have people who breed as alternative to work(we now have a fishing net, not a safety net for benefits). And finally we have a social experiment going on where we cannot do much about anything of the above because of human rights. The answer is not simple but needs to be addressed.

At the moment the goverment has set housing targets without looking at the finer detail. That is being left up to the Council and they seem to be looking at the targets and, with bloody minds, ignoring the local residents that are directly affected by their decisions. They can just blame the goverment for setting the targets. It's common sense really, there is only so many fish can you fit in a pond before the pond needs to be made bigger.

People need homes, but the homes that are built are in the majority of cases vastly unaffordable to a lot of people living in Shrewsbury.
Take for example, new 'luxury flats' that keep cropping up - you are looking at least £140k for one of them.
They're clearly aimed at young people, but how many young people can get a mortgage on a £140k property?? Even at 5 times your salary, you would need to be earning at £30k a year to get one of those - how many young people in Shrewsbury earn that much???

Have they been sold??

England will be one big housing estate soon, interspersed with intensivley worked farmland. There will be no 'real' countryside left, let alone any wildlife habitats. Our cities are unrecognisable due to uncontrolled immigration. Politicians have ruined the landscape and along with it our quality of life.

Pop up in a light aircraft and fly over the UK it is highly unlikely the uk will become one big housing estate, and one big intensively worked farm land , however whats wrong with intensively worked " farm land".
We need to sort out the housing shortage and we need to sort out other issues the UK has along with the amount of people we allow in to the uk to settle .
