A top government enterprise adviser was in Telford today to cut the ribbon on a new £250,000 business hub.

Lord David Young was on hand to open the new Telford Enterprise Hub on Hadley Park, which will provide free work space for young people to start their own businesses.

He told an audience of business people and council leaders that he had visited Telford in similar economic circumstances in the 1980s and hoped his next visit would be in happier times.

He said: “I hope that when I come back in another 30 years’ time Telford will be very different because of this building and the support of its founders.”

The hub was funded by TTC group bosses Graham and Jenny Wynn. It will provide 6,000sq ft of office space for dozens of young people in the area.

Hub director Fay Easton also spoke at the event and said: “It is going to change lives.

“We intend to convert the present statistic of 35 per cent of young people without work in this county to 35 per cent running their own businesses.”
