An inquest on the tragic Fuller family was opened this afternoon in Shrewsbury.

Youngsters Sam, 12, Rebecca, eight and Charlotte, seven, are believed to have been stabbed by their father Ceri, 35, before he killed himself nearby in a disused quarry on Pontesbury Hill, near Shrewsbury.

The bodies of the family were found last Monday morning at the Shropshire beauty spot. They had gone missing from their home in the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire the previous Thursday.

Police launched a major search for them with reported sightings in Welshpool and on the Welsh coast before the tragic discovery was made by a police officer.

The inquest was formally opened today at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

It was adjourned to a future date while police complete their investigations.
