A disabled woman was punched and kicked by a man who pulled her from her mobility scooter during an attempted robbery in Telford.

The woman was attacked near woods at Oakfield Road, Shawbirch, at 2.45pm yesterday.

It is feared the woman may also been stabbed during the robbery.

She was taken to hospital with minor injuries, including some very small puncture wounds which she believes were caused by her attacker.

West Mercia Police spokesman Maria Wilkinson said: “The victim was on her mobility scooter when she was approached by a man who asked her for money.

“When she refused he became aggressive and pulled her off the scooter. He then searched in her pockets before kicking and punching her several times.

“The lady also suffered small puncture wounds on her leg.

“She said the attacker did it but didn’t know what was used.”

The man is described as white, about 5ft 8ins tall and of stocky build.

He had shaven brown hair and stubble, and freckles on his nose and cheek.

He was wearing a long sleeved black hooded top with a white Nike logo on the chest and dark trousers.

Detective Sergeant Matt Gibbons, who is leading the investigation, said CCTV was being examined and house to house inquiries being carried out.

Forensic officers also attended to examine the scene.
