John’s shed is a great Shrewsbury pub
Now that’s what we call a proper local – and this shed-turned-pub has been named the prestigious 2012 Shed of the Year.
Now that’s what we call a proper local – and this shed-turned-pub has been named the prestigious 2012 Shed of the Year.
Proud John Plumridge, 57, has spent four years building the impressive pub in the back garden of his home in .
And the effort paid off after the pub was crowned winner of Cuprinol’s competition.
The 23 ft-wide shed has been made from pine and redwood and has space for up to 50 people. It has been decorated with more than 500 empty real ale bottles.
Other features include a satellite television, seven fridges, two wine coolers and a wide selection of spirits. Benches from Latvia, and beer glasses from Berlin complete the decor.
Mr Plumridge, a former soldier who now runs an airport taxi business, said: “It’s a great venue for our family and friends to party in and the good thing is we haven’t got too far to get home!”
His wife Cheryl said: “He’s not a big drinker but he enjoys sitting in here in his armchair. It’s a nice getaway.”
