Three hurt in A49 crash

Three people have been injured, one seriously, in a crash in Shropshire involving several vehicles.

One woman was trapped in her car for 40 minutes following the crash on the A49 about one mile south of Leebotwood, at 6.20pm on Saturday.  Three ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance with a doctor on board attended the scene.

A woman believed to be in her mid-20s suffered serious injuries and was treated at the scene.  She was taken to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for further emergency treatment.

A second woman, believed to be in her mid-50s, suffered neck injuries and was treated at the scene.  The woman was cut from the car with the roof and doors being removed.  She was put on a spinal board and taken to the RSH.  The woman was trapped for about 40 minutes.

A man, believed to be in his mid-60s, suffered multiple minor injuries and was treated at the scene.  He was taken to the University Hospital North Staffordshire for further assessment and treatment.
