A 60-year-old man from near Ludlow today appeared in court accused of murdering his wife.

John Colin Taylor, of Mortimer Drive, Orleton, is charged with murdering Alethea Taylor between January 17 and 21 this year at Orleton.

Hereford magistrates remanded Taylor in custody to appear at Worcester Crown Court on Tuesday.

Former teacher Mrs Taylor, aged 63, was reported missing on January 19 and was last seen at home.

Her husband, a funeral director, was arrested on Tuesday.
