Football is coming home for one Shropshire village whose old side is to reform after 30 years.
Edgmond Rangers FC disbanded more than three decades ago following the death of chairman Bill Kinsey in 1981.
However, the team is now set for a re-launch under the guidance of former player Ray Locke and his son Nick.
The two men were part of the Newport Town set up last season but decided to re-launch Rangers after Newport scrapped their reserve team.
Ray, 53, said: “After Newport’s decision to get rid of their reserve team I thought why not recreate Edgmond Rangers?
“We wanted a new identity from Newport Town and I think Edgmond Rangers is perfect.”
The side will play in the new Mercia League Two division next season.
Player coach Nick Locke, 26, said: “We’ve got about 15 players at the moment but they are all 17 or 18 years old and we are looking for a few older heads to give us some experience.
“We’ve had comformation from Telford & Wrekin Council that we can play on Edgmond Rangers old pitch at Edgmond Park.”
The team is looking for sponsors and volunteers. Anyone interested in helping the side either on or off the pitch can call Ray on 07773 903369.
