A 24-year-old Carphone Warehouse sales assistant has admitted committing fraud amounting to nearly £40,000.
Addison Marks, of York Road in Shrewsbury, appeared at Shrewsbury Crown Court yesterday where he pleaded guilty to committing fraud between January 5 and August 31 last year while he was working for the phone store in Telford.
During the period, a total of £36,687.97 worth of goods had gone missing from the store.
The court was told further investigations were now under way at the store.
Marks admitted making fraudulent entries on the company’s computer system to make a personal profit while working there as a sales assistant.
Mr Andrew Barkley, prosecuting, said Marks had created the fictitious accounts but added the defendant had no previous convictions.
Mr Danny Smith, for Marks, said his client was keen to assist the police with ongoing inquiries at the store.
Marks was bailed and told to re-appear next month for sentence.
Judge Robin Onions said all options, including a jail sentence, were open to him.
