£4m Renault deal for firm

A Mid Wales company was today celebrating winning a £4 million contract with car giant Renault, which secures dozens of jobs.

Trax JH Limited, which has bases in Welshpool and Newtown, has clinched a deal to supply wheel balance weights for Renault models built around the world.

Managing director John Hallé said the four-year deal, due to begin at the end of this year, would help to safeguard about 50 jobs.

“The last year or so has been difficult because of cheap imports coming from China, but we have been fighting back,” he said. “This is welcome news.”

The weights will be fitted to Renault and Dacia cars made in France, Spain, Russia, Slovenia, Turkey, India, Columbia, Brazil and Argentina.
