A Welsh rugby fan who headbutted an England fan after the key Six Nations match between the two sides has admitted assault.

Matthew Davies, 25, of Laurels Meadow, Knighton, appeared at Welshpool Magistrates Court yesterday and admitted common assault on Tom Leek on February 25.

The court heard that Davies and Mr Leek were in Knighton town centre after the match, which Wales won. Magistrates adjourned the case for sentencing until June 19 for pre-sentence reports and gave Davies bail.
