AFC?Telford boss Andy Sinton has dismissed speculation linking him with the vacancy at League Two outfit Burton Albion.

The Bucks boss spent two years at the Brewers towards the end of his playing career but he insists no approach has been made for his services.

"I know nothing about it," Sinton said. "I know that a few newspapers and radio stations have mentioned my name and I can't stop speculation.

"But no contact has been made and, as far as I am concerned, I am employed by Telford and I am fully focused on putting together my squad for the new season."

The manager confirmed that deals have been offered to Jon Brown and Adam Proudlock as well as central defender Chris Blackburn.

Keeper Ryan Young has already signed a new one-year deal.

A number of players were released at the end of last week – including skipper Shane Killock, long-serving Jon Adams and Carl Rodgers – and Sinton admits doing that is the hardest part of being a football manager.

"It's tough," added the boss. "Loads of these players have been a big part of getting the team to where we are now.

"The decisions have been made for purely footballing reasons, if people are behind others in the pecking order, and one or two players have work commitments to consider.

"It's not easy telling people you're letting them go but as a manager you just have to get on with it, and I am now looking to add as much quality to the squad as possible."
