Five men have been convicted of a series of sex attacks on two teenagers from Telford after plying them with drugs and alcohol.

The two girls – aged just 15 and 16 at the time – were lured to Birmingham and raped during a terrifying 36-hour ordeal.

Shamraz Rashid, 20, Amar Hussain, 21 and Amer Islam Choudhrey, 20, were all found guilty of abducting a child from Telford in 2009. Hussain was convicted of three offences of rape. Rashid was convicted of two rapes, attempted rape and attempted sexual assault.

Choudhrey was guilty of one offence of sexual assault. Jahbar Rafiq, 28, was guilty of rape and sexual assault and Adil Saleem, 21, was convicted of one charge of rape.

Aqueel Rahman, 20, who faced a charge of sexual assault was found not guilty by a jury at Birmingham Crown Court. Rashid, of Bordesley Green, Hussain, of Wall End, Rafiq, of Small Heath, Saleem of Yardley, Rahman, of Hodge Hill and Choudhrey, of Selly Park, had denied all the charges.

The two teenagers were picked up in Telford by Hussain and Rashid who were the architects of the weekend enterprise.

They were taken to a flat in Birmingham and later to the Ibis Hotel in the City Centre. At one point there were eight men at the flat when the defendants were involved in sexually exploiting and degrading the two young women.

One of the girls was locked in a bedroom and raped and later was raped by Rashid and Saleem in the kitchen while others watched through the glass door. At the hotel, one was raped in the shower by Rashid before the two victims escaped.

Sentencing was adjourned for reports.
