A family from Telford have been reunited with their cat – thanks to the Shropshire Star iPhone app.

Mum Emily Minor , 31, of Boulton Grange, Randlay, tracked down her missing pet Beeps by scouring the Lost and Found ads in the digital edition of the Star on her mobile phone.

On the day she took out a monthly subscription to the app, which lets iPhone and iPad users view the pages of the newspaper, she saw an ad for a cat found in Randlay matching Beeps's description. Emily and children Joey, six, and Molly, three, are now reunited with their pet.

Emily said: "Without the app, I wouldn't have been able to find Beeps when I did. When Beeps went missing, I downloaded the app for the one week free trial and religiously checked the classifieds page to see if he appeared.

"The app was very easy to use so I decided to stick with it and on the first day of my full subscription, I spotted the Star ad."

After going missing for two weeks, Beeps has returned home, where he has been joyfully received by Emily's children.

The app technology allows readers to turn the pages of the digital newspaper as it appears on the printed page, but with the benefits of using a handheld device.

The app comes with one week's free access to Shropshire and Mid Wales' favourite regional paper.

Subscribing to the app costs £1.49 a week or £3.99 a month. To find out more, visit www.shropshirestar.com/app
