Two hurt after car crash sees road shut
Saturday 4th February 2012, 10:59AM GMT.
Two people were injured – one seriously – in a crash which left a road near Shrewsbury closed.
A man and a woman travelling in the same car were taken to hospital after the accident in Broad Oak at about 6.50pm yesterday. No other vehicles were involved.
West Mercia Police said the man suffered serious injuries but was in a stable condition in hospital today.
The road through Broad Oak remained closed earlier today after the Highways Agency warned it was too dangerous to reopen due to ice. A police spokesman said: “The road remains closed because the Highways Agency has requested it.
“Police have finished their investigations at the scene.”
Crews from West Midlands Ambulance Service took the casualties to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for further assessment and treatment.
Firefighters from Shrewsbury and crews on a rescue tender from Wellington also attended the scene to assist ambulance crews and make the cars safe.
Information on the crash to police on 101.
