A teenager was assaulted in Telford as he made his way home from college, police said today.

The 17-year-old was walking alone when he was approached by two other males along Waterloo Road, in Ketley.

A verbal exchange took place before the teenager was punched in the face at about 3.10pm on Friday.

He suffered a cut to his eye and other facial cuts and bruises. The teenager visited hospital and the injury to his eye required gluing.

Police are appealing to a group of schoolchildren who were standing nearby to come forward.

A Telford Police spokeswoman said: “At the time of the assault a group of pupils from Hadley Learning Centre are believed to have been stood nearby and possibly saw what happened.

“We are eager to trace these individuals, or anyone else who saw the incident taking place. If you have any information in relation to the matter then please come forward and speak to us.”

Call Police Constable Nicky Lennon at Telford Police on 0300 333 3000.
