Courtney Owen is set to become Shropshire’s first female international footballer after being called up to the England under-15 side for a major tournament.

The talented Thomas Telford School pupil, who lives in Wellington, has been picked to represent England in the Bob Docherty Cup.

The tournament takes place in Dublin from April 2 to April 5 and will also feature sides from the Netherlands as well as Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

Owen, who is signed to the Stoke City Academy of Excellence, will begin training with the England squad next month.

And she will hope to stay involved with the England team when the Three Lions move on from Dublin to defend their Lloyds-TSB Cup title against Scotland on April 21.
