A cattle transporter container fell from a tractor and trailer unit at the Clee Hill roundabout on a stretch of the A49 trunk road, Ludlow, this morning

A container carrying livestock overturned today on a roundabout in Ludlow.

The incident occurred on the main A49 bypass outside the town at its junction with the A4117 just before 8am.

The container suffered significant damage in the accident after apparently sliding off a trailer on which it was being towed by a tractor.

The cattle inside the transporter were freed after the accident. Police were on the scene and traffic was running freely as the container rested on the road’s verge.

A witness, who didn’t want to be named, said: “The trailer looked as though it had slid off when the tractor which was towing it was going around the roundabout.

“The police were searching in a field next to the roundabout. It looked as if the cows had been put there following the crash.

“There were no animal bodies on the road but I didn’t see if any animals were hurt or not.”
