CCTV images of Telford robbery released
Wednesday 18th January 2012, 5:00PM GMT.
Detectives today released CCTV footage of three men they want to speak to in connection with a ‘sickening’ assault on two friends as they walked home from a night out in Telford.
Police said a 22-year-old man was punched so hard he was knocked unconscious and fell to the floor.
While on the ground he was robbed of cash, his mobile phone and bank cards.
Officers said his 21-year-old friend tried to intervene and was also assaulted.
The pair were walking home along New Street at around 1.55am on December 23 last year after a night out at Pussycats nightclub in Wellington when they were approached by three men.
Police are investigating the incident, which took place near to Savers in New Street, and are eager to identify the three people in the CCTV footage.
Investigating officer, Detective Constable Dean King, said: “This was a very nasty incident where one man was punched so severely that he fell to the floor and lay unconscious for a couple of minutes.
“While he lay on the floor he was kicked and then robbed. It is quite sickening to watch on the CCTV.
“The incident took place just a couple of days before Christmas so a lot of people would have been out celebrating and getting in the mood for Christmas.
“We would urge anyone who recognises these men or who remembers the incident and has information to come forward.”
Anyone with information should call Detective Constable Dean King on 0300 333 3000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
