Man dies on railway line
Monday 16th January 2012, 10:59AM GMT.
Rail services through Shropshire were disrupted after a man died when he was hit by a train.
The incident happened near Bilbrook rail station in Staffordshire at around 8.30pm yesterday, disrupting services between Shrewsbury and Wolverhampton.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. British Transport Police said his death was not being treated as suspicious.
Arriva Trains Wales services were delayed until 11pm.
A spokesman for British Transport Police said: “The man’s death was initially unexplained but is now being treated as non-suspicious. Officers are currently working to establish the man’s identity and inform his next of kin.
“A file will be prepared for the coroner.”
The train involved was the 7.09pm Birmingham International to Chester service.
