When mother-of-six Georgina Jones was told by her doctor that her extra weight was beginning to damage her liver, she decided enough was enough.

She joined a slimming group and, 10 months later, has dropped six dress sizes. Georgina, from Rednal in Oswestry, said she joined Slimming World after someone put a leaflet through her letterbox.

She said: “I had a blood test when I was pregnant with my daughter, Ruby, at the beginning of the year and I had a high liver reading.

“I was told weight loss would be the most effective treatment and so that has proved to be.” Her six and a half-stone weight loss has, she said, transformed her life.

“My weight loss journey has changed my relationship with both family and friends and I am now a much more confident and happy person,” she said .

“I am now able to enjoy looking for that special top for that girls’ night out and this summer I wore a swimming costume at a friend’s party. I had never been able to do that before.”

She said the whole family had taken on the healthy eating challenge with daughters Chloe, 11, and Lily, eight, both losing a stone and her two sisters-in-law shedding two stone each. “I love not feeling exhausted all the time and to be able to run and laugh with the children is amazing.”
Mrs Jones said her attitude to food had completely changed.

“I don’t need to attack a whole large bar of chocolate when I’m starving hungry or things go wrong. Now I fill up on a large fruit salad instead.”

“I still eat fish and chips but home made chips with grilled fish. I hope that the change will not only help me but also keep the children more healthy and give them a healthier attitude to eating.”

She paid tribute to Jan Evans who runs Slimming World groups in Oswestry and Chirk and to her husband, Alan, family and best friend Helen for supporting her throughout her weight loss.
