Man detained near Shrewsbury’s weir
Wednesday 11th January 2012, 1:30PM GMT.
A man has been detained by police after being found lying close to the edge of Shrewsbury’s weir.
The man, in his 20s, was spotted lying the wrong side of a barrier next to the Castlefields Weir at about 10.15am today.
A rescue boat from Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service was put on standby.
Police managed to talk the man back over the barrier and detained him. The incident was dealt with by 11.30am.
