Letter – Give a little help

Let’s start the new year by saying in the next 12 months, as the crunch really hits, keep an eye open for someone who needs your help.

Aa smile and word could mean a lot, a lot more than a text or tweet etc.

Real contact with real people; try it, it’s rewarding.

Is this a wind up?? any decent person does not need to be told to do this, says a lot about the writer.
Facts are in the UK we are not a very caring bunch , as for caring about some one who may suffer due to the cuts well all i will say is the majority will say tough luck old chum .

I’m a great believer in kismet – what goes around comes around. One day you might need someone’s goodwill when you’re down on your luck.
It’s the hard-working and caring minority that are holding this narcissistic society together.
If more people looked beyond getting ahead in the rat-race mentality, life would be much more bearable for the underdogs struggling in society.

Well said, we are a self obsessed society, nobody cares about anybody anymore, very sad

Sorry Pauline but broadly you are very very wrong.
There is lots of good and charity in society today. The major majority will help where they can, when they can & indeed do.

If your experiences are contrary to mine then perhaps look inwardly & ask yourself why but do not blame everybody else which is what you do when you label us all as self obsessed and uncaring.

Its not all very sad, with the right attitude it can be all very nice.

I too beleive that what goes around comes around and that it is the hardworking & the caring that hold society together however I do not agree that such people are in the minority.

There will always be divisions in society & it’s not all about the rat race mentality.
I’m no expert but I see those who have the capacity to learn and use their learnings for the betterment of themselves and those around them and then those who will not or do not want to learn just remain.(very sweeping terms acknowledged)

That one has the inborn ability to improve does not make them bad people & indeed many do support those who need it. Doctors, your church officials, teachers, police, charitable organisations and so many others.

It could be argued that with out the without ‘the rat race’ the underdogs would sink further.
