Victim’s cheek is broken in Telford attack
Monday 9th January 2012, 10:59AM GMT.
A 22-year-old man suffered a fractured cheekbone in an attack in Telford.
The victim was at The Station Hotel in Station Road, Wellington, when he was assaulted at about 1.35am yesterday.
Police today said the man was pushed and punched to the ground before being taken outside where a further assault took place.
The victim was taken to the Princess Royal Hospital. He suffered a fractured cheekbone and other cuts and bruises.
Police are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
In particular, police are eager to trace witnesses inside and outside of the club.
Denise Wakefield, a Telford police spokeswoman, said: “The assault started inside the premises then spilled out onto the road.
“There were a number of people both inside the club and outside the club and we would urge those individuals to come forward.
“Following inquiries we have established that there were around 20 to 30 people outside the club and one bystander may have been filming the assault on their phone.
“We urgently need to speak to these individuals and would ask them to contact us as soon as possible.”
Witnesses are urged to contact Constable David Minto at Telford police station on 0300 333 3000. Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
