Tributes were today flooding in to a 14-year-old cyclist who died after tragic road accident between Oswestry and Welshpool.

Jim Hodgson, from Arddleen, near Welshpool, died on Friday afternoon following a collision with a car near Four Crosses on Thursday.

Today, friend Cathy Jervis issued a statement on behalf of the family saying: “Jim was a very generous, giving and sensitive young man. He was popular and made friends easily. He was a member of Four Crosses Young Farmers and embraced being a member of the farming community. Jim had a natural affinity with animals.”

More than 100 people have also paid tribute on a Facebook group set up in his memory, called ‘RIP Jim Hodgson’. Tributes have been left by school and family friends, who described him as a “polite” and “chatty” boy.

Sue Hendry wrote: “It’s true that God only takes the good ones young. Jim touched so many people’s lives the short time he was here, and everyone will remember how honest, kind and happy he was.”

Sergeant Sean Westlake, of Dyfed Powys Police, today appealed for anyone who saw the youngster in the moments leading to the collision to come forward.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call 0845 3302000.
