Ellesmere Food and Drink Festival aims to pull in thousands
Monday 9th January 2012, 10:59AM GMT.
Plans are well under way for Ellesmere’s annual culinary extravaganza – and organisers have promised it will be better than ever.
Organisers of the Ellesmere Food and Drink Festival are hoping an array of local, national and international produce will attract thousands of visitors to the event this summer. It will take place from June 16 to 17 and will showcase food from more than 50 exhibitors.
The free event will be held in the town hall and market hall from 10am until 4pm on both days.
The event, which is in its sixth year, will feature fruit, vegetables, cheeses, meat products, ice cream, wines and beers, and homemade chocolates and preserves.
Organisers say it will coincide with Fathers Day enabling families to come together and enjoy the food, drink and events in and around the Ellesmere area.
There will also be chance to take a steamboat trip or hire a rowing boat to go around the Mere.
Organiser Lincoln McMullan, chairman of the Ellesmere Chamber of Trade of Commerce, said: “This year’s event is set to be bigger and better than ever.
“Everything is on schedule and we have got about 44 exhibitors signed up to the event so far. There are about 15 spaces remaining.
“What we want is for people to be exhibiting things we haven’t had before.
“We have already got someone exhibiting African and Caribbean food, wild game and pizzas.
“We have got our regulars as well.
“There will also be exhibitors on the car park attached to the town hall this year.”
