Chaos on Telford’s A442 Eastern Primary this morning after the collision

The A442 Eastern Primary was blocked between the Hollinswood and Randlay interchanges after a crash involving two cars on the southbound carriageway.

Six other cars were involved in minor bumps while trying to get out of the way following the crash, police said.

One woman was checked over by paramedics as a precaution following the collision but there were no other reported injuries.

The crash happened just before 9am and closed the road. Telford police spokesman Chris Ammonds said there were several vehicles involved but just two to start with.

“There were two cars initially involved in a collision and several other vehicles involved in minor collisions as a result of taking avoiding action,” he said.

Mr Ammonds said diversions were quickly put in place after the road was closed but admitted it had caused ‘chaos’.

West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman Claire Thomas said two ambulances and an officer attended the scene after police informed them of an accident involving eight vehicles.

She said: “There was one patient treated at the scene but she did not require hospital treatment and there were no other injuries.

“When we received the call from police they reported there were eight vehicles involved.”
