Woman injured in Telford attack
Thursday 5th January 2012, 9:00PM GMT.
A 22-year-old woman suffered a broken wrist after being grabbed from behind and thrown against a fence by a man in Telford.
The woman was walking along a footpath in St Georges between The Nabb and Tranters Row when she became aware of the man following her, police said.
The culprit fled on foot after the assault and police today made an appeal for witnesses to the attack, which happened on December 23 between 10am and 1pm.
Telford police spokesman Chris Ammonds said: “As the victim – a 22-year-old – woman made her way along the footpath between The Nabb and Tranters Row she became aware of an unknown man following her.
“Without warning the man grabbed her from behind, pushed her against a fence and assaulted her. As a result of this assault the victim suffered a broken wrist as she attempted to defend herself.”
The man is described as white, in his 20s, around 6ft tall and having a ‘skinny’ build. Witnesses can call police on 0300 333 3000.
