Podgy players aim to score 100lbs loss
Wednesday 4th January 2012, 10:59AM GMT.
Members of Oswestry Cricket Club are looking to score a century with a difference in the build-up to the 2012 season.
Committee members Paul Baker, from Llanyblodwel, and Mike Robinson, from Oswestry, are aiming to lose 100lbs between them in 100 days in a sponsored slim for club funds.
“Paul and I had decided independently to diet in the New Year,” Mike said.
“When we discovered we had both decided to diet we thought it would be good to get together for a club fundraiser.
“We’re looking to find sponsors at so much per pound lost. At this week’s official weigh-in, the pair had a combined total weight of 539lbs.
“It’s obvious that there is plenty of weight to lose,” Mike added.
“We want to be below 439lbs on April 11. I had already pledged to give up alcohol until the cricket season, so that should help. I think Paul has decided to do the same,” he said.
Anyone interested in sponsoring the pair should ring Mike on 07971 559657, or email mike.robinson@kidzinsport.co.uk
