Soldier Simon home to wed Hayley
Friday 30th December 2011, 2:22PM GMT.
Brave soldier Simon Jones survived six months of Taliban attacks and bombings in Afghanistan to return to the arms of fiancee Hayley Allan for their wedding day.
Just weeks after a six-month tour of duty, the 23-year-old walked down the aisle to marry Hayley at St Mary Magdalene Church in Albrighton, near Shifnal, yesterday.
During his time in Afghanistan, Private Jones, who is with 3rd Battalion Mercian Regiment, survived several attacks by Taliban bombers, losing comrades and friends.
His mother Sylvia, 54, of Albrighton, said that the ceremony had been a lovely end to what had been a ‘very worrying’ year for the family.
