Shropshire lottery winner claims £105,000 prize
Thursday 29th December 2011, 10:59AM GMT.
A lottery winner from Shropshire has finally come forward to claim a £105,000 National Lottery prize – more than a month after the draw was made.
Lottery operator Camelot issued an appeal this month to find the winner of the November 26 draw. Now they have announced that the massive prize has been claimed in the county, giving an unexpected extra Christmas present to the unnamed winner.
Officials have refused to say which part of the county the winner is from.
A National Lottery spokesman said: “We’re delighted that the winner of this amazing prize has now come forward and we hope that they will enjoy their win – it’s certainly a great way to start 2012.
“It would have been awful if the ticket-holder had missed out on this substantial and life-enhancing amount of money.
“We would like to remind all National Lottery players to check their tickets every time they play.”
The prize-winner matched five numbers and the bonus ball to win £105,561. When the prize remained unclaimed, officials launched an appeal for people to double check their tickets to see if they had won. The winning Lotto numbers on that date were 13, 16, 25, 26, 36, 46 and the bonus ball was 15.
* A couple who scooped £1 million on the EuroMillions Millionaire Raffle draw kept their winning ticket in a ‘sacred’ antique teapot over Christmas until they could claim their prize, they said today.
Judy and Frank Whitmore, from Tockwith, North Yorkshire, put the teapot on top of a kitchen unit after finding out about their win on Christmas Eve.
