A teenage Much Wenlock ice hockey star will be among the official torch bearers when the 2012 Olympic flame passes through Shropshire next summer.

Saffron Allen, 16, who plays for Birmingham Hub, has had an official conditional offer from Games organisers.

She is just back from Italy with the GB Under-18 ice hockey squad, where they qualified for the World Championships.

In an exceptional year, Saffron also debuted for the GB senior team at the IIHF World Championships and has been involved in London 2012 events in her home town.
