A five-year-old boy was airlifted to hospital after suffering serious injuries in a head-on crash in Telford.
A young girl also suffered a suspected broken arm and three other people were taken to hospital after the smash at The Lloyds, Coalport, at about 12.30pm yesterday. The road was closed until 5.15pm.
Police said the boy, who suffered abdominal injuries, was in a ‘comfortable’ condition in hospital today and was being kept in for 48 hours for observation. John Hawker, a West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman, said:
“Crews arrived to find two cars that had been in a significant collision. A five-year-old boy who was a passenger in one car suffered serious injuries.
“He received emergency treatment at the scene and was airlifted to Birmingham Children’s Hospital. A second child travelling in the same car suffered a suspected broken arm. The girl, believed to be 10 years old, was treated at the scene and transferred to Princess Royal Hospital.”
