Man, 44, targeted in Shrewsbury attack

A 44-year-old man was kicked in the head and knocked unconscious by two men in an unprovoked daylight attack in Shrewsbury, police said today.

The victim was assaulted by the men in Beacalls Lane near the town’s prison at about 3.20pm on Wednesday.
After the attack, the man managed to get to this feet and get home, officers said.

Police are appealing for information on the incident.

Constable Glenys Whitelegg, the investigating officer, said: “He had walked over Castle Walk onto Beacalls Lane and spotted two men walking towards him.

“One made abusive comments and he was then punched to the back of the head. The men punched him to the ground, kicked him in the head and body and left him unconscious.

“This was a serious and totally unprovoked attack and I am anxious to hear from anyone who can assist with police inquiries.”

The two men were described as white, probably in their 30s or 40s and wearing jeans and dark jackets.

Anyone with information is asked to call police station on 101 number.
