Work on a new falconry centre at Halfpenny Green Vineyard is to start in the New Year after planners gave proposals the go ahead.
Councillors heard the plans for the site at Bobbington would help boost the economy and tourism.
And Karl Law, who is behind the application, said today he was delighted it had been approved.
He said: “I am absolutely esctatic. We have got everything we asked for. We are going to start building the aviaries on the first of January. I am hoping to have it open at the end of February or March 1.”
Members of South Staffordshire District Council’s regulatory committee heard the falconry centre would be open all year.
A falconer would also give demonstrations with guided walks for groups around the vineyards with the birds. There would be education visits for schools.
A report to the meeting said: “As the district does not boast such an attraction, the success of this application would help raise the profile of the district as a visitor destination and contribute to the economic vibrancy and vitality of the area. It would also increase footfall to the vineyards, which in turn would support rural businesses located within the complex.”
