Two arrested in Shrewsbury police stop-check

Two men were arrested – one on suspicion of assaulting a police officer – after a car was stopped in Shrewsbury.
A car was pulled over on Whitchurch Road at about 6.15pm on Monday by officers carrying out stop-checks. Bags containing goods and two vehicle registration number plates – all believed to be stolen – were found in the car.
Both men, aged 48 and 38, from Merseyside, were arrested on suspicion of a number of offences.
One was arrested on suspicion of obstructing police and assaulting a police officer.
Both were bailed pending further enquiries.
