Woman fights off attacker in Whitchurch
Tuesday 20th December 2011, 10:59AM GMT.
A woman was attacked by a man who tried to sexually assault her in an alleyway.
The 24 year old managed to fight off her attacker, who struck as she walked along Bredwood Arcade in Whitchurch in the early hours of Sunday.
Police today issued an appeal for witnesses and warned women not to walk alone at night.
The woman was heading towards Tesco car park on White Lion Meadow at about 1.15am, when the man grabbed her and pushed her to the ground.
Richard Ewels, West Mercia Police spokesman said: “The man attempted to sexually assault the woman as she lay on the ground.
“She struggled and managed to kick him in the chest after which he ran off. The young woman was badly shaken but fortunately was otherwise unharmed.”
