Florin Street Band back in Shropshire to promote Text Santa song
Tuesday 20th December 2011, 10:59AM GMT.
The band behind the theme tune of ITV’s big Christmas charity appeal have been back in Shropshire to promote the event.
The Victorian-themed Christmas song My Favourite Time of Year by The Florin Street Band, whose video was filmed at Blists Hill Victorian Town in Telford, is now the theme to ITV’s Text Santa appeal.
Songwriter Lee Haggerwood is donating download profits from the song to the Text Santa appeal and to the Ironbridge Gorge Museums Trust, which runs Blists Hill.
Leigh and fellow band member Vaughan Jones dropped into Blists Hill on Sunday and signed copies of the CDs for visitors.
Leigh said: “The ITV producers really liked the song and felt it would be a great match for Text Santa, so they asked if I’d consider letting them use it as the theme music for the appeal.
My Favourite Time of Year was released on December 5 and is available at iTunes, Amazon and most other online stores.
All UK download recording profits will be shared between the Text Santa Charities – Carers UK, Crisis, Help the Hospices, Samaritans, WRVS, Great Ormond Street Hospital, Noah’s Ark Appeal, Helping Hand, Yorkhill Children’s Foundation – and the Ironbridge Gorge Museums Trust.

This is undoubtedly the BEST Christmas song ever. I don’t exactly know how Leigh managed it but he somehow captured the very ESSENCE of Christmas itself in this joyous song. Record companies and radio stations should be ASHAMED of themselves for not supporting this fantastic song. Especially as this year ALL profits are going to 10 UK charities.
Was great to see several members of the band and people from the video at Blists Hill on Sunday. They are all SO NICE and it was an absolute pleasure helping to promote the song whilst there.
Believe me, The Florin Street Band are on the rise and will be around for a VERY long time to come. Looking forward to the album in 2012.
