Cash and alcohol stolen in leisure complex raid

Raiders stole cash and alcohol from The Venue leisure complex near Oswestry, police said today.

Officers today appealed for witnesses or anyone who knows about the break-in to contact them.

A gang of up to five people are thought to have been involved in the burglary which is believed to have taken place in the early hours of Friday.

Police spokesman Richard Ewels said: “A door was forced and various rooms were searched within the complex. Property and a quantity of cash was stolen.”

It is believed alcohol was among the thieves’ haul.

Police say a vehicle of some description must have been used in the raid.

“Anyone with information or who saw a vehicle in the area should contact police on 101 or use the Crimestoppers number on 0800 555 111,” he said.

The Venue is the home of the Welsh Premier League football team The New Saints. It also houses a restaurant, children’s play area, bowling alley and a gym.
