Walker dies in Snowdonia mountain fall

Monday 19th December 2011, 10:59AM GMT.

A walker has died from head injuries after falling 500ft on a mountain in Snowdonia.

The man, believed to be in his 30s, was more than 3,000 ft up Y Garn when an avalanche swept him and a young woman off their feet.

The woman escaped uninjured in the incident on Saturday. Rescuers say he had been fully equipped.
