Shrewsbury pool boss Rachel in Olympic torch honour

A swimming pool manager from Shrewsbury who has raised thousands of pounds for charity has been chosen to carry the Olympic torch next year.
Rachel Harvey, 39 from Radbrook in Shrewsbury is a manager at the Quarry Swimming and Fitness Centre in Shrewsbury. She was nominated to carry the flame by her ex-boyfriend Mike Bardalo.
She is the latest person from Shropshire nominated to carry the torch in the run-up to next year’s Games in London.
Rachel has run in several events for cancer charities over the past few years, in memory of her brother Neil who died from lung cancer in 2008, raising many thousands of pounds.
In the past three years she has run the Great North Run twice, London Marathon and Race for Life raising around £4,000 for charities including Cancer Research and the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation.

This is brilliant, I worked at one of the sports centres a few years back with Rachel being the ops manager and I am thrilled for her to do this.. Well done and keep up the good work
