Graham Turner demands festive focus for Shrewsbury Town
Friday 16th December 2011, 11:00AM GMT.
Boss Graham Turner will demand maximum focus as Shrewsbury Town aim to get their Christmas campaign off to a flying start tomorrow.
Town will be looking to extend an 18-match unbeaten home run when mid-table Macclesfield visit the Greenhous Meadow.
But Turner is wary of the potential pitfalls of the final game before Christmas as Shrewsbury seek to provide an immediate response to last week’s deflating 1-0 defeat at Aldershot.
“It’s important we bounce back and it’s a game we have to be careful about,” said the Town boss.
“Macclesfield will be a difficult side to play against and have had some decent results.
“It’s getting to the time of year where there are all sorts of things going on and we have to stay firmly focussed on what we have got to do.
“We don’t want to waste all the hard work we have put into the season so far.”
Turner remains tight-lipped over his selection plans for tomorrow as he decides whether to give the team which started at Aldershot the chance to atone.
Loanees Aaron Wildig and James Wallace will both be pushing for starting berths.
And midfielder Sean McAllister and striker Tom Bradshaw are back in contention after recovering from injury and illness respectively by playing in the midweek 3-0 friendly defeat at Preston.
Town begin the weekend four points behind the automatic promotion spots, although that gap could increase tonight with two of the teams above them in action – Cheltenham at Barnet while Southend host Bradford.
Meanwhile, defender Reuben Hazell has been given the all-clear to step up his recovery from a serious knee injury after visiting a specialist in Edgbaston.
The former Oldham captain remains on course for a return at the start of February after damaging ligaments against Torquay in September.
