15 arrested after Telford dawn police raids seize drugs

Cannabis plants, controlled drugs and suspected stolen property were seized and 15 people arrested as part of a series of dawn raids in Telford today.

Homes in Madeley, Leegomery and Brookside were among those targeted by police as part of West Mercia’s ongoing Operation Christmas Crackdown.

Inspector Richard Langton, the officer in charge, said: “There are people in Telford who are committing crime and I want to send a clear message to them.”

A drugs warrant was executed at an address in Brookside where an amount of a Class A drug was found and a man was arrested.

A 51-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis at an address in Madeley. A man was also arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of cannabis.

One man in Leegomery was arrested on suspicion of theft and three other men were arrested for cultivation of cannabis. Two men were arrested after they were found in possession of a stolen car.

After investigations, six motorcycles and 10 catalytic converters, believed to be stolen, were seized from a lock-up in the borough.

Three people were arrested in Brookside on suspicion of a public order offence.

Following a visit to a scrap metal dealer, officers seized a Transit van and arrested a man on suspicion of handling stolen metal.

And a man and a woman were arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis after 12 plants were seized from an address in Dawley.
