Every year Maureen Mountford-Jones lovingly decks her house out in twinkling festive lights.

Mrs Mountford-Jones, of Shifnal says she loves Christmas but she puts the lights up in memory of her two husbands.

Mrs Mountford-Jones’s first husband, Fred, started putting the lights up at their Admiral’s Close home.

However he died in a tragic accident 10 years ago.

Six years ago Maureen married Peter Jones, who continued the tradition of putting up the lights and even added to the collection.

However, Peter lost his battle with cancer this summer and now the lights serve as a loving tribute to him as well.

Mrs Mountford-Jones said: “Peter put the lights up last year even though he was critically ill and then spent Christmas and New Year in hospital.

“I did not think I would have them up this year because I am disabled but my son-in-law Kiernan Edwards and grandson Tom Harris put them up for me.

“They are all over and the whole front of the house is lit up. The lights have grown over years and are in memory of both my husbands. When all the lights are up it is gorgeous.”

She said initially she did not want to do them this year but her five grandchildren ‘forced her’ because they were so fond of the lights.
